[0:13] Nicki and Kate are hitting you with the numbers to put into perspective just how much opportunity there is out there for freelancers right now and in the future.
[1:33] Nicki shares a quote from a Forbes article, The Freelance Revoultion Has a Supply Problem, Not a Demand Problem, where author Jon Younger talks about how the fact that there is a supply problem within the freelance revolution.
[3:01] Kate and Nicki discuss how events like the pandemic and possible recession have added to the need for good freelancers that businesses have. In fact, Kate’s best year as a freelancer was 2020, the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.
[5:55] Kate points out the fact that there are 32.5 million businesses in the US and about 1.5 million Non-Profits. That means there are literally millions of potential clients.
[7:40] To add to the enormous number of businesses already in the US, there are over 540,000 new ones created each month! Some more great news for the future of freelance possibilities.
[9:49] Kate mentions that just because a business has employees on staff that do what you do, doesn’t mean they won’t hire you. Nicki and Kate explain the many reasons you should still pitch these potential clients.
[12:30] Our hosts depart with the final thought that you will be able to take advantage of all of the opportunity available because you will proactively be pitching to potential clients. This is what will keep you ahead of any “competition” from other freelancers who are waiting for work to come to them.
