[0:15] Nicki kicks off the show by explaining that freelancing doesn’t need to be a major commitment. Thanks to the flexibility of freelancing, you get to freelance whenever you want to, so you only have clients when you want to.
[2:10] Having the capability of freelance gives you control over your career. This means that if anything unexpected happened at your day job you have options that allow you to supplement your income and job security that is independent of your employer.
[3:10] Kate points out that there are a number of ways to freelance meaning you can find what works for you. Maybe you only work 10 hours a week freelance, or just on weekends. You can do what is best for you!
[5:35] Nicki addresses the common question, “Can I successfully freelance?” She mentions that your skills are what you bring, and we give you the steps to follow in order to land clients. You just have to follow the road map that’s laid out for you.
[8:20] Our hosts discuss how one set of freelancing principles works for all industries. They explain that the way that you land clients, handle client calls, set rates, and all other skills you need to freelance are the same across industries, even though the services offered are different.
[13:40] Freelancing intimidates some because they don’t know how to do it. But, you can absolutely learn, just like you have everything else in your life! No one is born knowing how to freelance, but learning the steps and skills give you the ability to be successful.
[15:53] As you get excited about the possibility freelancing, you might also get nervous. Good! This means that you are getting outside of your comfort zone which is where all the best things in life are found.
[17:24] Nicki and Kate remind us that as long as you have a service to offer and can follow steps, you can become a freelancer. If you’re willing to take action to learn and apply your new freelancing skills then freelancing will be a perfect fit for you.
