A Sneak Peek at the Episode
[0:21] Nicki and Kate introduce the topic and remind those who skipped to this episode (we don’t blame you, this is an exciting topic!) to be sure to go back and also listen to the shows before this episode.
[0:55] Nicki shares the fact that taking the action is up to you, so while you can start making money quickly as a freelancer the money isn’t just going to come and find you. Luckily, our hosts take you through exactly what action you need to take to start making money.
[3:20] If you want to build your freelance business quickly, you may want to consider dedicating more of your free time in the beginning towards it. The more time you put into it, the quicker you will be able to start landing clients.
[4:40] Kate reminds us that the true key to finding clients is to have a system that you follow daily. As you know, the clients aren’t going to magically appear, you need to start strategically pitching.
[6:20] Remember, you get to decide how your freelance business looks. Aspects such as how often you work, how much you make, when you work, as well as when you start earning.
[7:26] Kate brings up the fact that it is completely possible to make six figures as a freelancer. So, you can calculate based on your rates how much you need to work in order to get there.
[9:40] It’s important to keep in mind that your rates should reflect every part of your process, not just the time spent on the service you offer. Include the time it takes to check emails, group meetings, concepting, etc.
[11:19] Nicki speaks to the flexibility of your hours as a freelancer. She talks about how your hours are not set in stone; you can work 20 hours some weeks and 25 hours the next week, for example. It is totally up to you and you can bend your schedule to fit your goals and personal life.
[13:05] Our hosts sum up the points they hit throughout the episode, and encourage you to start looking at your possible numbers to get an idea of what that would look like for you. We promise these are fun calculations to make because they’re focused on you bringing in cash!
