In the freelance industry there are two types of people: those who hit their freelance goals, and those who fail because they aren’t willing to do what successful freelancers do. Those who hit their goals consistently show professionalism, and you can too.
In today’s episode of the Freelance Success Framework podcast, Nicki and Kate illuminate how you can show clients you are a professional freelancer capable of bringing their business success.

A Sneak Peek at the Episode
[0:10] Nicki and Kate introduce the topic and prepare to dive in to the details behind successful freelancers.
[1:39] The foundation that all great freelancers build their businesses on is a deep list of potential clients. Nicki and Kate explain that in order to since there are so many opportunities out there, you need to have an organized place to track them all.
[2:35] Some would-be freelancers fail by sending pitches to clients that are all about them, not about the company they’re pitching to! The Freelance Success Framework teaches you how to send value-based pitches sure to get positive responses from clients.
[6:57] Nicki points out that value-based pitches change the entire atmosphere between you and a potential client in that they allow the client to see you as a potential partner. This leads to better discovery calls, better partnerships, and superb final products.
[9:17] There’s no hiding professionalism; you either show that you have it or it’s clear that you don’t. Kate adds that when you pitch with an idea that will help a potential client you stand out because of that professionalism.
[11:50] Nicki illustrates that the best way to be seen as a professional by a client is to take work off of their hands and give them ideas that add value versus waiting around for them to come up with an idea and hope that they ask you to carry it out. True professionals make life easier for their clients, not the other way around.
[13:49] The final characteristic that sets the best freelancers apart is how they price their services. First off, our hosts remind us that there is no hard and fast rule for perfectly setting your rates. But, as Nicki and Kate share, professional freelancers gather information about a project and then send over a lump sum that is equal to the value they to their clients.
[17:30] A key step in quoting your services correctly is getting on the same page with your clients during the discovery call. Make sure each step of the process is clear to both of you in order to know how much time a job will take you and how much you will charge for it.
[20:00] It’s not difficult to act as a professional does at all times as a freelancer. Choosing to take the steps that thriving freelancers take will pave the road to your freelance goals.
